Yes, it's been 40 years that Gulf Coast Vision has been in business. Gulf Coast Vision Center opened its doors in the Fall
of 1972. The practice was a small office on Hood Drive in Ensley. Dr.
Horace Linder, a native of Alabama and Dr. Richard Griffin, a native of
Florida started this practice together after attending optometry school
together at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis,
Tennessee.
Their goal was to build a practice based on service. As the
practice grew they reached out to communities such as Century and Milton
with additional locations. Eventually, the need for a larger facility
became necessary so in 1986 they opened a 5000sq.ft. office on 9 Mile Road. This facility would be state of the art with a full
surfacing lab that allowed them to make glasses for their patients in
the same day.
They continued to be active in the community and provide
excellent service until 2005. However, after 33 years of practicing they
chose to retire and turn the practice over to Dr. Douglas Reynolds.
Recognizing and appreciating the level of individual care provided in
the past it was Dr. Reynolds goal to continue with that same level of
care. He has always chosen to have highly trained individuals be part of
the practice and very proud of the care they provide each and every
patient.
As a way of saying thank you to
their patients, Gulf Coast Vision Center is having a celebration the entire
week beginning October 22nd. At both locations they will be having discounts, specials
and giveaways. So make sure and stop by either
location during this week to check out their specials.
Now, not only is Gulf Coast Vision Center a comprehensive vision care center. They have something called Mr. Blue! A computerized lens grinding machine that allows them to deliver something very unique. M'Eye Touch!
